Variable Schedule (FT/PT) Indicator

During the creation of the certificate, the Variable schedule indicator may be set to Yes to allow multiple certificates to be generated for the same authorization.  This indicator is different than the "Flexible" field used in the Application Schedule entries.  The Flexible term in these contexts means that the parent and/or child do not have a set schedule; i.e., scheduled hours for each day of the week.

Some scenarios that describe how to use the Variable Schedule and FT/PT fields as you create a certificate are described at the end of the section.

Variable Schedule Indicator:

This could be used for all Age Categories.

The field in the Create Certificate screen is used to indicate whether the child will be attending a particular provider for a pre-determined number of hours (Authorized Hours) or an undetermined number of hours, i.e., school holidays, back-up care (Variable) for the period of the certificate.

The variable Certificate does not take the Authorized Hours into consideration when validating attendance or determining payment.

The system uses the appropriate daily rate based on number of hours entered for each day (full or part time values) to determine payment.  For example, if a child attends 4 hours per day, the Part Time Daily rate is used; if a child attends 8 hours per day, the Full Time Daily rate is applied.

FT/PT Indicator:

This is available for School Age enrollments only.

The FT/PT indicator is used to determine if providers will get paid at the Daily rate or at the Weekly rate determined by the authorized hours when used together with a Schedule that is not Variable.

Its meaning is that a provider who typically has a child during the school year for a certain number of hours could be paid for extra hours of care during school holidays.

Values for Variable and FT/PT Indicators are used accordingly:

The scenarios described in the following pages show how the School Age Child's Authorized Hours are evaluated during the Attendance and Payment processes using the Variable Schedule and FT/PT Indicators.
